ABOUT ME

My journey with glass began at Rainbow Studios in Memphis, TN. Since then, I have honed my craft in studios across San Diego, CA; Portland, OR; and now New Orleans, LA. Establishing this company represents the next chapter in my dedication to sharing my passion for art glass. Art has been ingrained in my life long before I could fully understand it, and glass art has become the medium through which I express, explore, learn, and at times, reconnect with myself.

Some of my earliest memories involve watching my father in his workshop as he crafted cabinetry, woodwork, and metalwork. I recall seeing him design and fit stained glass into his projects. My mother was also frequently creating ceramic or oil-painted artworks. Reflecting now, I realize how much they inspired me, but it wasn’t until I took art classes in high school that I discovered I shared many of their talents and passions. I pursued these interests further through fine arts and graphic design programs. Unexpectedly, I found myself working for Rainbow Studio in Memphis, TN, where I was introduced to glass art: learning sandblasting, fused and kiln-formed glass, beveling, architectural design, and installation work. This experience led me to start Midtown Art Glass, where I completed various stained and leaded glass restorations and installations for churches, as well as corporate, commercial, and residential projects. My journey in glass art deepened when I moved to San Diego in 2004 and joined Bera Stained Glass. There, John Bera, a master glass painter, mentored me in both traditional European glass painting techniques and innovative rendering methods. Working alongside an artist of his caliber was truly a unique and invaluable experience.

During my time in California, I pursued learning new techniques such as torch-worked and small blown glass, which eventually led me to discover the remarkable teachers and mentors at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA, where I was accepted in 2007. My experiences at Pilchuck significantly expanded my knowledge and passion for torch-worked and layered, kiln-formed glass—methods that continue to define my work today. Later, in Portland, OR, I took printmaking classes at Bullseye Glass and subsequently found an opportunity to work at Amri Studio. There, I honed my skills in sandblasting and glass carving under the guidance of the talented Christina Amri and her team, translating her elegant, intricate designs into reality while refining my own precision and technique. Now, as I embark on my new glass journey in New Orleans, LA, I reflect on the mentors and inspirations that have shaped my path. At Liquid Studio, we are passionate about creating and sharing original glass art inspired by our unique perspectives. Just as I was supported by others, we take pride in helping clients bring their stories, visions, and ideas to life through custom-designed glass artistry.

ABOUT FUSED GLASS

My recent glasswork has evolved through extensive experience with traditional glass painting techniques used in leaded glass. I incorporate silk screen prints, many derived from my own original photographs, which I apply onto glass. The painted and printed glass is kiln-fired, and for many pieces, I layer these paint-fired glass elements—combining color, texture, and collage—before fusing them together in the kiln. Some of my work emphasizes print and imagery, while others focus on form, color, and texture. I draw inspiration from photographs taken during explorations of New Orleans, capturing the city’s distinctive music, architecture, and community spirit. Additionally, I integrate clients’ personal images or memorabilia into custom creations, transforming them into unique, imaginative display pieces. Currently, I am developing new designs inspired by the dark, mystical ambiance of New Orleans’ cemeteries.
